Mountain Bjelolasica
As the highest mountain of Gorski kotar Kapela range (Kula 1534 m), Bjelolasica owes its name to the narrow, bright ridge that stands out above the forest region, especially when covered with snow. 7 kilometers long, with very steep slopes, Bjelolasica is abundant with spacious, thick forests freckled with calciferous rocks and broad meadows which forest trails and roads bind into a unique kaleidoscope of woods and clearings thus providing for memorable experiences in biking and mountaineering. In wintertime, the mountain represents the ideal skiing destination due to the fact that it remains under snow until mid-spring, when the snow is replaced by the luxuriance of flower-covered meadowcs. Bjelolasica features magnificent views of Velebit, Lička Plješivica (east), Velika Javornica, Bijele, Samarske and Kolovratske stijene, Alija, Ričićko bilo (south), islands of Krk, Cres, Lošinj, Kvarner Bay, Učka (west), Julian Alps with Triglav, Kamnian Alps with Grintavac, Burni Bitoraj, Viševica (northwest), Mirkovica, Medvednica and on clear nights, even the lights of Zagreb (north).
